upfronts, day 1

so the upfronts started today with NBC unveiling its fall lineup, and let's just say i'll probably be watching less of NBC come september.

whereas i'll still be watching medium at 9 p.m. mondays and law & order: svu at 9 p.m. wednesdays, that's about all i'll be watching on NBC. the network has decided to "hold back" scrubs for some undetermined time later in the season, according to Zap2It.com, and putting in its timeslot some new show called my name is earl, starring jason lee as a lottery winner. yeah, sounds disappointing already. and it's sandwiched between the biggest loser and the office as the all boring lead-ins to svu.

other new shows NBC picked up sound even worse. there's three wishes with host amy grant (yes, that amy grant), which just sounds like a poor man's extreme makeover, any edition. there's inconceivable, which is about a fertility clinic (and such a bad, bad pun). the only show that might be interesting would be the apprentice: martha stewart, but even that's stretching it because i HATE the apprentice, but i love martha. i probably still won't watch it.

the one thing NBC should have really done is put us out of the misery that are Joey and Will & Grace. seriously. Joey has proven time and again this season to be a subpar replacement to a series that was subpar for its last few seasons. Will & Grace has just lost its appeal over the past three seasons, and has no hope of winning it back. no matter what new talent is brought in on the screen and behind it. Will & Grace has just basically become one of those shows that just feature and revolve around guest stars, with nothing so much really going on with the characters. both of these shows should've gone the way of Ol' Yeller, but i guess NBC just needs to have one more season of bad ratings on thursdays. eh, i'll be watching the o.c. anyway, as Fox has already said they're renewing it for a third season.

so upfronts will be going on for the rest of this week. ABC and The WB reveal on tuesday, CBS on wednesday, and UPN and Fox on thursday.
