I feel like I'm in Bizarro World. I mean, why else would
The Daily Texan have an editorial cartoon on their
Opinion page? Now let's just hope it sticks, eh? Otherwise, well, it's back to the blob of gray ...
Meanwhile, over at SWT, er, Texas State ... the
University Star website is down. This is starting to smell a lot like fall 2003 ...
And while we're on the subject ... I was just visiting
The Collegian at UT-Brownsville, and saw through the very uninformative column the current EIC wrote (which I'm sure was
forced upon him suggested by the adviser) that he was written about in
El Rocinante. (FYI" El Rocinante is a gossip site based on the Valley, and mostly Brownsville b.s. We used to read it for shits and giggles at The Collegian, but sometimes some of those rumors and gossip actually turned into stories, none of which we would cover.) Congrats. That was something even I was never able to acheive when I was EIC, but then again, I had no power over the paper, whatsoever, and was in fact very much a "puppet." I was only EIC on paper, but I had none of the powers or duties that came with it. And it's no wonder I walked out on deadline day. What can I say: I'm an ass.
El Rocinante also "reports" that The Brownsville Herald EIC (and friend/former co) Rachel Benavidez likes to eat. A lot. Of greasy burgers and fries. Their nickname for her is "La Nalga." It's hilarious and awful, although I don't think Rachel would have ever thought anything like this would have been written about her when we worked at The Collegian. It also has some pretty scathing remarks from Melissa Zamora, (former co). Zing.
