Learn to write, or at least hire an editor

Now, I love News 8 Austin, but egads, the copy on their website is always fucked up. There's always key words missing from what would otherwise be a sentence. The sad thing is, it happens a lot on their homepage. So here's the first in what I'm sure will be many times that I edit their copy. My corrections, of course, will be striken and in red.

Homepage teaser for story on UT Torch Light Rally
Hundreds of University of Texas fans showed up for Wednesday night for a rally to show support for the 'Horn's quest to beat the Oklahoma Sooners.

Story on flu vaccinations
First off, FluMist is spelled Flu Mist throughout the story. It is one word, two caps.

Many kids say they prefer the new way of getting vaccinated. (only one child was quoted, so "many shouldn't have been used since, well, only one child was quoted.)

"I don't like shots and I don't like needles," said student Tanner Bush of Hyde Park Baptist School. (mention of the school is redundant since that's the angle of the story.)

The Austin-Travis County Health Department plans flu vaccination clinics in November for people at the greatest risk for complications from the flu.

Teaser on homepage for story on first state veterans cemetery
The cemetery won't open until December, but more than a one hundred people are waiting to bury loved one's remains.

OK, there's way more typos and bad editing, but I'm getting frustrated reading this stuff. And I'm a little disappointed. Gah. Time to smoke.
