So I'm sure you've all read/heard about Britney Spears guest-starring on Will & Grace* as a Christian. I mean, it's been everywhere because Christians are so outraged over her character having a cooking segment called "Cruci-fixin's". It's been here and here and here.
So today Zap2It reports that NBC has caved on the plot. They've removed the original press release from their media site talking about Spears's evangelical character. And they've issued a statement saying "the storyline will not contain a Christian characterization at all. We value our viewers and sincerely regret if this information has offended them."
So to this I sincerely pose the following questions to NBC execs and to anybody else out there: Devout Christians watch Will & Grace? Really? Like, a lot of them? So much that you'd alter the plot of a show (which "has yet to be written" yet you'd already sent out a press release about it)? Really? For a bunch of Christians that allegedly watch your show? Really? Because, you know, I've known devout Christians, and I don't think they'd watch a show about a gay guy, his fag hag, and their sidekicks, but obviously I must be wrong, right?
*I haven't watched Will & Grace in two seasons, so this doesn't really affect me, but come on! When will Christians stop complaining about shit that they ain't watching/doing anyway? Really. That would be like me complaining about so many people having straight sex, or something like that. Gah.
