my weekend: the movie edition

I rented five movies yesterday afternoon and have already seen four of them. Well, technically I only saw three and three-quarters movies. I haven't watched Valley Girl yet, but I've already seen Valley Girl, so it doesn't really count. So here's a rundown of the others.

Prozac Nation: Wow, that was horrible. As someone who actually loved the book, the movie, well, wow. I couldn't get psat the first 30 minutes. Really, really horrible. And who's idea was it to have Jessica Lange play a Jewish mother as a WASP? It just might steal the title of worst movie ever from X-Men 3. Oy.

Prey for Rock & Roll: Not as bad as I thought it was going to be. And am I the only one that noticed they teamed up the former WB stars to be a brother and sister? But man, what I would've paid to hear Gina Gershon say "darlin'" at least once.

Shiner: Worse then I thought it would be. I thought a movie about people who get off on getting beat up would be interesting, but it just ended up being a little boring. The straight couple never got much developed past the point that the girl used to get in fist fights when she was little, and she only really got rough with her boyfriend once. Then there's the main storyline of two straight buddies who are way too homoerotic to the point where it was just, well, gay. And the third storyline was just bland. Bleh.

Shaun of the Dead: Why did I wait so long to watch this? There's just too much to love about this movie. I mean, there's the cute, layabout lead actor, zombies, the humor, the zombies. I liked this so much I can't even make a coherant sentence thought about it. I will say this: I'll be buying the DVD and the comics sometime this week. Heh.

You mean to tell me Gina Gershon doesn't really say "darlin" in real life? I'm sad.
