No, I don't want the HBO package with my Ultimate Cable

cableNow, I'm surprised that I haven't really seen this talked about much on any of the comic sites I regularly visit, but last Thursday IGN had a small-ish feature about Ultimate Cable, which will make his debut in Ultimate X-Men 75.

Now, I've been an on-again, off-again fan of Cable over the years (and the same goes with Ultimate X-Men), but Ultimate Cable sounds a little cool. While Ultimate Cable (furthermore known as "the U.C.") will pretty much look the same as 616 Cable, writer Robert Kirkman promises that the U.C. will actually utilize "every piece of junk hanging off him." And that sounds nifty to me. One of the things that's always bothered me (and I'm sure many others), especially during the '90s, was these characters with big guns and all this other crap on their costumes, and yet, oh, gun use all the time. How about one of them grenade-looking things you got on you? Why not use one of those? Oy ...

Anyway, the one revelation Kirkman made that I'm really surprised hasn't got anyone talking is that the U.C. won't be Nathan Summers, son of Scott "Cyclops" Summers and Madelyne "Goblin 'clone of Jean Grey' Queen" Pryor, but may be someone else from the 616.

So if not Nathan Summers, who else could it be? I'd wanna go out on a limb and say it's Vance "Marvel Boy/Justice" Astrovik, but Kirkman said the U.C. would have different powers. I guess I don't have any other guesses, really, because everyone else I would've guessed already has an Ultimate counterpart. Oh, or maybe it's Rusty Collins? He's white and a mutant and doesn't have an Ultimate counterpart yet!

Meh. I give up. I'll just wait and not speculate.
