vignettes

1. for some reason, i find it refreshing to reveal my crush to others. last night i was out with velouria, donovan, and lily, and my crush on hot gig came out. and donovan and lily didn't know hot gig was gay. which was kinda funny. but now that someone other than velouria knows, i feel better. not that i want everyone at work to know that i have the hots for hot gig (who i'm sure has to have wised up about my crush by now). but ... i don't know. i think maybe it's that i feel i can trust donovan and lily with the knowledge.

2. i've decided that one of the things i'll be spending my bonus check on this year will be a musical instrument, more than likely either a keyboard or guitar. i miss music. i miss making and playing music. and lately i've been writing again, and i have these rhythms in my head, but no way to get them out. so yeah. anyone know where i can get a decent, not too pricey, left-hand guitar in town?

3. over recent years, i've noticed my writing becoming progressively worse. i use "i" all the time. i overuse the same words. it all bleeds together. and not in a good way. i had this really great english teacher in high school named mr. hixon. the one lesson from him that's stuck in my head over the years (and one that i've more blatantly not followed lately) is to start each sentence and paragraph with a different word, as in not having two sentences that start with the and along those lines. it has something to do with keeping the reader interested. it's something i'll be trying to look out for more.

4. for the past couple years or so, i've been on-again, off-again working on creating and writing what i hoped would one day be a tv show. unfortunately, with the advent and popularity of heroes, i've had to retool because of the similarities. and let's face it: a show i create would never make it to air. so i've decided to rework it as a comic book, which makes a bit more sense. now i need to find an artist. more on the show in a later post.

5. toyjoy is sometimes too much fun. tonight, i bought two pens and a wand that may make me the most annoying person at work. we'll have to wait and see.

6. there's this secret santa thing going on at work, and i was going to participate in it, but then i got all paranoid and never responded to the e-mail to say i would participate. anyway. i still want to answer the questions for it, so i'll do that on here, as follows:

• What is your favourite snack? sadly, cheese and almost anything, and probably funions
  
• What is your favourite beverage? non-alcoholic: cherry coke; alcoholic, beer: lone star; alcoholic, liqour: vodka tonic
  
• What are your favourite magazines? uh, just got back into reading magazines, but i'll go with entertainment weekly, alternative press, and paste
  
• Hobbies? sadly, just reading and writing, really
  
• What would you NOT like to receive? anything by avon, as i get and immediately discard such when it's received from my family because one of my aunts sells avon, so the rest of the family sees her as a time saver when really everything i've ever gotten is crap, so yeah, nothing from fucking avon
