the nicest cashier ever

i was just at h-e-b buying $3 worth of groceries (ramen, mac and cheese, milk for the mac and cheese), and there was a new cashier working the register near the entrance where the fruit and such are at. (i know she's a new cashier because i used to go to h-e-b that often.) instead of trying to sell me one of their point-of-sale impulse buys that they have at the register, she asked me if i had anything special planned for today. i said "sadly, no." she gave me my receipt and said "i hope you have a great weekend and that something special happens for you today."

i wanted to hug her.

so. nice.

in other news, i picked up some applications at a couple of local (read: in walking distance) convenience stores yesterday afternoon after finally (mostly) getting over my anxiety about it. only now i'm having anxiety about what to put in the "position applying for" box. what do i put down? cashier? sales rep? clerk? i'm so confused. and causing even more anxiety, what the hell do i put in the "salary desired" box? what the fuck does a convenience store clerk make? minimum wage? $6? $7? gah! so, yeah, those won't be dropped off until monday. also on monday, i'll pick up an application at the texadelphia across the street from me, since they do have a huge "now hiring" sign that i just saw today.

oy.
