now, i'm the first person to admit i'm a pretty lazy person. i'm mexican; it's in my genes. but today, one of my deliveries was for donuts. four donuts, to be exact. we up-charge everything at my delivery job, so this got me to thinking. because, with the up-charge, and the delivery charge, and tax, and tip, this delivery for four donuts came out to $8. so this girl who made this order was willing to pay $2 per donut.
i don't understand this. i mean, i'm lazy, but i'm not that lazy. especially not for four donuts. i mean, yes, if i want donuts, i'll probably drive all the way up to north austin to go to the only dunkin donuts in town instead of driving or walking about 10 blocks to go to ken's donuts. but even then, if i'm going to spend $8 on donuts, i'm going to get $8 worth of donuts. the whole thing just doesn't sit well with me. i mean, obviously it was ok for this girl to spend $2 per donut, but i don't think i'd ever do that.
i'm sure one of these days, i will end up ordering food from the delivery service i work for, but i think that would be mostly as a sign of solidarity so i can help my fellow drivers make good tips. and that's what it's really all about, since all of the places we deliver for are within walking distance of my apartment (well, most of them are).
and now i'm not sure where i was going with this post. i guess it was just that delivery tonight made me think about what laziness means to people, and how lazy people will be and how that equals to a monetary value.
bah.

Go to Mrs. Johnson's Donuts! They might even give you a freebie while you wait.
