should i be offended?

so i was just on craigslist and saw an ad for a proofreader/editor from the last agency i freelanced for. (the one that i was so excited about working at because it was downtown, and then they let me go the week before my birthday, which was the last time i was employed steadily before my current delivery job.)

i don't know if i should be offended by this or not. i mean, when this agency let me go, it was because they lost a client and let go a lot of people. and my boss there said they'd keep me in mind if any other work came up or they got the budget to hire on a full-time proofreader. and sure, the ad was posted today right after 5. but, i mean, should i care? is the jiltiness i'm feeling justifiable? and maybe they'll call me tomorrow. or maybe when they told me they'd keep me in mind, it was just the break-up speech (i.e., it's not you, it's me).

now i don't know how to react. do i wait to see if they contact me? do i e-mail my old boss and be all "i saw the ad, i'm still available, wanna reconnect? i miss your money and promises of steady employment." or do i just shrug this off and not care?

so. confused.

i agree. i don't think any boss could say he or she doesn't like a proactive person. besides, who knows who put the ad out there, it could be someone who wasn't even working there when you were. so send them a poke!
