i feel sick

so i just read in the statesman that the texas senate approved letting voters decide whether to ban same-sex marriages or not in the Nov. 8 statewide general election. the sad thing is, the ban will most definitely pass in this state, no matter how many gay and gay-sympathizing voters turn out. this comes after driving to work the other day seeing two guys standing over I-35 holding a banner that said "say no to gay marriage." i've already bitched way too much about this, especially about the whole "sanctity of marriage" bullshit, because the people preaching sanctity are usually the ones that abuse the institution of marriage. they're usually the ones that cheat, get numerous divorces, don't pay alimony, don't pay child support, abuse their children, abuse their spouses, etc. or at least that's always how it's been with people i've encountered. i don't even know why i'm bitching because i've been single longer than i'd like to admit, and there's no sign of that changing anywhere in the near future. but i'd at least like the option of marriage. oh well. i'm going to be feeling sick to my stomach all the way to Nov. 8 and beyond.
