so i finally got to see the season finales i recorded this week last night. OK, so it was only two season finales. i will say one was fucking great and the other kinda disappointed me.
so first with the great one. that would be Gilmore Girls. there are no words to express how much i love this show. it's basically taken the place in my heart that was taken up by Buffy when that was on the air. this season has been so great, and the finale just plain proved that. with lane's mom putting the band on a tour of 7th Day Adventist colleges (and any fans of the show know how weird that is), luke freaking out about lorelai even contemplating selling the Dragonfly Inn, lorelai trusting her parents to help her keep rory in college, only for rory to go behind her back and have the grandparents backstab lorelai. the scene where lorelai looks at rory unpacking in the pool house, and they look at each other, and that sad sad song is playing ... it really kinda broke my heart. and the end with lorelai asking luke to marry her, and that's the cliffhanger! OK, so i know nobody i know watches this show, but it's great, i love it, and there.
no for the disappointment. that would be the o.c. i know. it sounds like sacrilege. but hear me out. so caleb died. that was cool. in last week's episode. the fact the kirsten's "drinking problem" took center stage for the finale was kinda lame, especially with seth. seth asking for kirsten to go to rehab just had no effect on me. it's like he didn't even mean it. the same goes for haley. now, if they had taken her to rehab and they started drugging her, that would have been a different story, but it was all resolved just a bit too easily for my tastes. the same goes for jimmy going back to julie and wanting to try being a family again. also a bit too easy. and who didn't see ryan freaking out, trying to kill trey, and then marisa being the one who actually kills/shoots trey. who didn't see that coming? the finale did have its moments, such as when jimmy talks to haley about the North Shore (since that's the show she left the o.c. for, and it got uber-canceled), and when seth hears the doorbell ringing and he says it'll probably be oliver. but over all, kind of a lame finale.
the same goes for smallville. OK, so lana killed jason's mother. or did she? one of those stupid stones kinda killed lex's father. or did it? jason, who was thought killed in last week's episode, tries to kill the kents, but then they all might've gotten killed by a meteor. or did they? but jason will be dead because he'll be on another WB show in the fall. or will he? the only semi-decent thing that happened was that clark got transported to somewhere that looks like antarctica, which could be a plot to set up the fortress of solitude. which would be cool. otherwise, the rest of the show was kind of a waste. yeah.
so the only finale i have left is medium, which airs monday, although i won't be able to see it until friday, at the earliest. let's hope that one doesn't disappoint, which i highly doubt it will.
