I need more tattoos,
or How I made it to see Made Out of Babies;
Chapter 4: Punk guys are fucking hot

made out of babies, originally uploaded by ltflux.

So you know you're doing something right when you're having a great hair day (with compliments coming out the waazoo), the work isn't bad, and after a scare that you might be having to pull an all-nighter, you're released from work just a little after midnight so you can get to Emo's just in time to catch Made Out of Babies, a show you planned on seeing since you first saw it posted in early May.

So yeah, that was me today. Made Out of Babies was fucking awesome. They were just as I remembered them from when I saw them during SouthBy. My photos didn't turn out all that great, the few that I got to take before my batteries died on me and I realized I didn't have any backups in my man-bag. I did realize, however, that my digicam is just not meant for live shots at shows. I need a real camera. I have my sights set on a digital Canon Rebel. drool. I had a non-digital Canon Rebel, and I loved that camera, so I'm thinking the digital version will just result in a photogasmic experience.

Back to Made Out of Babies. It was a great show. And I realized that the singer reminds me of Alexis Bledel from Gilmore Girls, if she got all punked out, her back tattooed, joined an awesome punk/metal band, and tried to bite her guitarist's leg during a show at Emo's. And I also realized that I do have a thing for drummers (which I first realized back in late 2003 when I covered the stellastar show and spent most of the show drooling over the hot drummer). But yeah. Made Out of Babies' drummer is fucking hot. I was very pleased when he took off his shirt after he broke a stick and didn't miss a fucking beat. And the singer. If I were straight ...

The night ended with me driving home rocking out to Medicine. What can I say; I was in the mood to hear another great band that starts with the letter M. So overall, it was a great show, a great night, a great day, and I am so happy I was able to see Made Out of Babies sober without me and Jennifer fending off guys.

And in other news ...

Five songs I have to cover once I get a keyboard and find a drummer with which to form a band:
1. "My Friend Goo" by Sonic Youth
2. "Burning Up" by Madonna (a rap version, perhaps)
3. "Wasted" by Black Flag
4. "Ciao!" by Lush w/ Jarvis Cocker
5. "I Just Wanna Get Along" by the Breeders
