who needs a copy editor when you have such competent management already ...

I can't help but go through ads for copy editors and see how badly said ads are edited. I know I wouldn't want to take a job where the management can't even edit. It just speaks badly of said establishment. And on that note, here's one I found on texaspress.com (errors are in red):
Copy Editor -- The Amarillo Globe-News, a Morris Communication newspaper in the Texas panhandle (circulation 50,000), is seeking a copy editor to join our newsroom. This position will perform normal copy editing duties including headline writing, copy editing, and layout and design. Knowledge of Associated Press stylebook and excellent knowledge of grammar required. Ideal candidates will have a journalism,
communications, or related field.
The Amarillo Globe-News offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, 401(k), holidays and paid time off.

So what kind of crops grow in a related field, eh? Are they the kind that use serial commas when AP says not to?

This one comes from Ohio, via JournalismJobs.com:
We have an upcoming opening for a news editor at the Port Clinton News Herald. Our longtime news editor is retiring, and his shoes will be tough to fill. We need someone who will continue his tradition of winning state awards for his page designs and headline writing. Port Clinton is on the shores of Lake Erie and the area is a summer vacation hot spot. The News Herald is a 6,000-circulation, six-day paper. We're looking for the editor who will be a good fit for our seven-person newsroom.
Yeah, because I love winning awards for someone else's work ...

From Vallejo, Calif., via JournalismJobs.com:
The Times-Herald, a 22,000-circulation, morning daily in Vallejo, located in
California’s beautiful Bay Area, is seeking a full-time member for its copy desk
team. Previous desk experience, as well as experience in page design, headline
writing and QuarkExpress are a must. Experience with InDesign, which we’ll be shifting to soon, is a plus. Graphics experience, from Photoshop to Illustrator, is preferred. Writing opportunities and benefits available.
If you want people to work with Quark, at least do the fact-checking to know that it's actually QuarkXPress. Because, you know, product name and all.

This is from Glam.com in Brisbane, Calif., via mediabistro.com:
Part-time copy editor wanted for a new, fun, fast-paced, fashion and celebrity-based e-commerce Website. The ideal candidate must have extensive professional copy editing experience, familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style and The AP Stylebook, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and energetic environment. Knowledge of celebrities, fashion, and lifestyle a plus. Responsibilities include copy editing documents, developing and maintaining the company style guide, proof reading, and entering edited data into a database.
So you want someone with extensive knowledge of Chicago Manual and AP? Because, you know, that would involve knowing you don't use serial commas, proofreading is one word, Web site is two words, and fashion should have a hyphen after it. But, you know, management shouldn't have to know it. Hera forbid ...
