I'm a Jew at heart

So I'm thinking of celebrating Jewish holy days for the rest of the year, starting this coming Monday with the Jewish new year, Rosh Hashanah. And then Yom Kippur on Oct. 13. I found some pretty tasty sounding recipes here, but I think you all know how horrible I am in the kitchen. I think even I could fuck up kugel, which is a shame because I love it so. The frittata recipes don't sound too hard, but I could probably find a way to fuck that up, as well. Anyway, I think it's time for me to start searching for places in Austin that serve Jewish food. Oy.

Kugel's labor intensive but not that hard. Eric and I made a fancy one from a recipe we got off the Queer Eye website. Under no circumstances, however, should you attempt latkes, unless you really want to get in the spirit of atonement. Whattamess.

i recommend the boxed mix for latkes. they're even better than from scratch sometimes.
