The Penguin and DeLay

As I was driving to work today, I was behind some big truck for some company called Cobblestone something. Anyway. That made me think of The Penguin, one of Batman's foes. And I realized that I couldn't remember The Penguin's real name. I knew it was Oswald Cobble-something. So this was all I could think about on my drive to work. Was it Cobblestone, like on the truck? Was it Cobblesmith? I know he was a descendent of a cobbler of some sort. Then, it hit me as I was pulling into a spot in the parking garage. Cobblepot! Oswald Cobblepot!!! OK, that was a pretty useless thing to think about and focus on while on my way to work, but if I didn't figure it out, I wouldn't be able to go along my way. Thank heavens I did. Nothing's worse than Penguin-head.

OK, now for an actual, real-life villian, let's talk about Tom DeLay. DeLay and his attorneies, particularly the funnily named lead attorney Dick DeGuerin (geez, does your last name have to be DeSomething to represent this assmime), keep on saying that DeLay's indictment is not political, but then blatantly make it political by saying a fair and impartial judge might be unfair and impartial because of party lines. Hmm, sounds political to me.

And they succeeded in getting District Judge Bob Perkins, a Democrat, removed from the case because he made monetary contributions to the Democratic causes and candidates.

So today, Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle filed a motion to have the judge to removed Perkins from the case to remove himself from the case for the same reasons, namely that he had also given money to political causes.

So now if Judge B.B. Schraub doesn't remove himself from this case, well, it'll just be the pot calling the kettle black. If you're going to remove one judge from a case because he gave money to a political party, then remove all judges from this case that have done just that.

Of course, that probably won't happen, because you know Republicans. They'll just say the contribution was a monetary "technicality" and call it a day. You know, because money, perjury, lies, they're all "technicalities" if you're a Republican. If you're a Democrat, well, they aren't technicalities and can get you impeached or removed from cases. Asses.

In summation: I like The Penguin. I fucking hate Tom DeLay.
