the year in mando, part one

So over the next few days, I'll be posting about significant things that transpired in my life during the past year. I'm sure it will not be enthralling. So here's the first entries.
  • Living sitch: After living in San Marcos for a little more than three and a half years, I finally made the move to Austin. Which made tons of sense, what with working in Austin and always being in Austin for drinking and music and such. The apartment I got isn't exactly what I was looking for, but then again, I didn't really start seriously looking for an apartment until two weeks before my lease was up. So it ended up being an OK apartment for the time period I gave myself in which to look. But the neighborhood is great, especially when the homeless guys aren't hanging around near my car. But, hey, so close to Central Market, Mangia, Amy's Ice Cream, the Bookcase Store, I Heart Video, Vulcan, NeWorlDeli, and the post office, not really complaining.
  • My hair: I think 2005 saw my hair get crazy for the first time in a long while. And by crazy, I mean growing out. I originally cut my hair back in March 2004 after having not cut my hair for about five years (except for trims here and there). It was a radical change, and one that I didn't expect to like as much as I did. So I tried to keep up with it. But anyone who knows me well enough knows how lazy I can be. So the last time I cut my hair (besides a couple of small trims) was January 1, 2005. My hair has gone through several variations this year, and it's gotten to the point where I can actually tie my hair back in a ponytail again. Which, of course, means it's time to lop it all off again.
OK, tomorrow, we'll cover work life and social life. Yay?
