Comically speaking ...

msmr5Thursday Comics Continuum released the cover image to Ms. Marvel 5, set to go on sale in July. The plot is supposed to have Carol fighting some evil, time-traveling sorcerer named (wait for it) Warren Traveler. Geez. Talk about your name saying what you do. Is his middle name Captain Obvious? The plot will involve time travel, alternate realities, and time traveling in alternate realities, or at least that's how Marvel solicits the issue. I just feel sorry for poor Carol. I mean, look at her in the cover! She looks so confused. And hasn't she been through enough. All I have to say is this: she gave birth to the man that raped her. Geez. As long as it's not revealed that she's the real mother (by way of the Scarlet Witch's magicks) of the Young Avengers' Wonder Twins (re: Wiccan and Thomas Shepherd), well, um, I got nothing. Oy.

As for the month of April, it seems we finally get the mystery behind Layla Miller, the little deus ex machina of House of M who's joined X-Factor and keeps on saying she knows stuff and is trying to keep the world from learning about the House of M. So, to quote Joss Whedon, "I've got a theory." Bunnies. Layla Miller is bunnies! OK, maybe not. My real theory? She has something, somehow, to do with Destiny, Mystique's old "partner" and Rogue's "other foster mother." I say Layla is like, Destiny's daughter from an alternate reality, or her granddaughter, or maybe Destiny reincarnated by the Scarlet Witch as her foil in for HoM. Either that, or she's a Neo. I hope she's not a Neo. You know, Kitty Pryde was allegedly a Neo. Sometimes I hate you, Chris Claremont.
