It's a curse! It's a plague! It's a curse about a plague!

I think the government has it out for me. First, the USPS. Then, the Dept. of Education. I say this because yesterday I tried to go buy a single stamp from the stamp vending machine at my local postal office. And the machine was out of order. So I thought I'd try out the automated postage machine. It only lets you buy a book of stamps or stamps over $1. So I gave up and went to the other postal office near my apartment. Same thing. So I waited til my lunch break today to go to the post office up by work. And of the two stamp vending machines, one was out of order and the other should've been because it kept eating everyone's money, including my own, which meant I had to get into the hellishly long line, explain to the postal clerk that the machine at my money and to please give me a single stamp. Yes, just one. Not a booklet. Thanks. It's a conspiracy I tells ya.

And then there's my student loan. When I got my bill last month, I noticed that there was a second, rather large payment, that had been credited to my account. Being a good citizen (and not wanting it to bite me in the ass), I called and reported it and the person I spoke to said nothing could be done at that moment because there was no way to "see" that certain payment and to call back in two weeks to see if the matter was resolved. Well, I forgot to call back, and I got this month's bill Saturday and saw that the matter hadn't been resolved. So I just sent my bill and am about to call again and see if I can get that money deducted from my account. Gah.
UPDATE (12:36 p.m.): So I just got off the phone and the extra money has been allegedly taken care of. Gah. Let's see if it is ...
