Infinite Crisis 6 (of 7)
So, my favorite comic this past week was Teen Titans, but I really need to review Infinite Crisis before Titans for a very obvious reason: Superboy dies. I've had an on-again/off-again thing with Conner throughout the years, but I didn't really start to like him until he became a Titan (even on Young Justice, he was really meh).
Oh yeah, other stuff happens, too. Like seeing all the alternate Earths. How Star Sapphire bites it. The dialogue between Black Lightning and Mr. Terrific. Oh, yeah, and the Most Creative Way to Kill Someone Award goes to Black Adam and how he kills Psycho Pirate, who really, really needed to die, anyway. And then there's Superboy-Superboy Prime: Round 2. I just hope "New Earth" doesn't stick; hasn't Marvel copyrighted the word "new" by now, anyway?
Teen Titans 34
OK, so Teen Titans one year later. Really worth it for the first three pages, which give hints as to what happened in said year. Then there's Cyborg waking up (after having been rebuilt by Wendy and Marvin; yes, that Wendy and Marvin), how Cyborg reacts to Ravager being a Titan (again), Cyborg remarking how Blue Devil was a sidekick himself (regarding the latest Titan, Kid Devil), Cassie being completely bad-ass (you know she has to be that good for me to be using that abhorent term), Bumblebee is now with the Doom Patrol, and, oh yeah, Robin's new toy! Seriously, I've read this issue like 10 times since Wednesday, and I don't want to wait another month for the next issue. Wah!
Young Avengers 11
You know, I'm so glad that there are comic books featuring teens that have them actually sound like teens. Wish they'd been around when I was a teen. Anyway. Young Avengers continues on with it's "Family Matters" storyline, where we find out that Teddy (Hulkling) is the son of Captain Marvel and a Skrull princess and is actually the heir to the Skrull throne. There's also the fact that all the fan speculation about Billy's (Wiccan) and newcomer Tommy's parentage may yet be true, which would technically make them teammates with their sorta father. The Avengers show up towards the end, just when one of the teens may have lost one of their teammates. I want the next issue, now. Wah!
Detective Comics 818
Dear James Robinson,
Thank you for writing a backup story that has Batman talking to hot naked guy for five pages. And thanks for finally killing off the Ventriloquist; he's always been a pretty lousy villain. Um, I think that's all. But, yeah, more naken men talkng with Batman in the future would also be nice. Thanks.
Sincerely,
LtFlux
Outsiders 35
Apparently in the past year, Grace and Captain Boomerang have gotten really into S&M, and their latest victim seems to not know the safety word.
And I know people have been dissing Thunder's new costume, but I'm totally loving it over her old tranny-hooker-that-can't-coordinate costume. And I think I'm liking Metamorpho better than Shift. Is that bad?
Y The Last Man 44
So the head of the Yakuza is some stupid Britney-type Canadian pop star who dressed up poor Ampersand in a cute little tux and chains him until he does "something funny" for her? Can she be dead now? Eh, no? How about next issue? Come on, she's a Canadian pop star; how hard can she be to kill? And her guards? They have "red shirt" written all over them. So, you know, next issue, I wanna see some pop star blood? All right? Good.
The Exterminators 4
OK, I love this series, but page 2 scared the FUCK out of me. Seriously. And then there's the scene where they kinda rip off Nip/Tuck , although here it's infinitely grosser. I am intrigued by the whole Scareb thing. Yeah.
"New" Excalibur 6
So for an issue that was solicited as answering why Dazzler isn't dead, well, obviously it disappoints because that subject never gets answered or makes it past page 3.
What it does do is bring back Black Tom Cassidy, and he may or may not have killed Dazzler again (she looks pretty dead on the last page). But, really, is Black Tom really mind-controlling people with little, weed-looking flowers? Weak.
Ultimate X-Men 69
Again, for the first part of a three-part story called "Phoenix?" you'd think that Jean Grey, who, ahem, has some connection with the Phoenix, would get more air time than she did. The story seems to be revolving around the new "student" introduced last issue and how he seems to be more trouble than he's worth. I say kill him. OK, I'm done.
X-Men: The End, Book Three 4 (of 6)
Oy. I don't know what the first few pages say about therapy. I mean, Kitty, if you've been in therapy for nearly half your life, maybe you shouldn't be mayor of Chicago. And am I the only one that wants to kill Xavier's "son" (and am I the only one that thinks the kid is the son of Lilandra and Cassandra Nova from when Nova was in Xavier's body? No? Didn't think so.). And Cassandra being able to defeat Rachel even after she's tapped into the Phoenix force? Doubt that. And Xavier being possessed by Nova again (and walking again and apparently into leather, again, and tattoos). Oy. Can this be done? Gah.
