Let me start Day 4, Part 2 of the upfronts by saying this: Long live Tuesday! The CW has finally confirmed the long-standing rumor that it's Tuesday line-up will be Gilmore Girls followed by Veronica Mars. Way to go!
Surprisingly, 7th Heaven made an unexpected resurrection after it ended it's 11-season run on The WB with it's series finale. The CW will probably play this much how The WB touted the fifth-season finale of Buffy as its series finale when it was just being picked up at UPN.
Canceled shows from UPN include Eve and other shows nobody really watched. As for The WB, not making the cut were midseason replacements The Bedford Diaries and Pepper Dennis (Thank Hera for that one, because, really, Rebecca Romijn should be seen and not heard, kinda like her portrayl of Mystique in the X-Men movies, and I haven't forgiven her for breaking poor John Stamos' heart; John, if you're reading this, call me), Charmed, Everwood, and it's entire Friday line-up (Living with Fran, What I Like About You [which actually had already ended it's run, and my only source for Mary Cherry], Twins [poor Darlene] and WB mainstay Reba).
As for day-by-day, Mondays will continue to be fueled by 7th Heaven, which will be followed by new drama Runaway, which is basically The Fugitive plus family, with Donnie Wahlberg as the David Janssen/Harrison Ford role. Sounds almost interesting, but I'll be watching Heroes. Sorry. I already mentioned the splendiforousness about the new Tuesday line-up. America's Next Top Model will lead into One Tree Hill on Wednesdays, whereas The WB's Thursday night line-up of Smallville and Supernatural stays intact. The CW will also be replacing the typical Friday comedy line-up with a night of wrestling with Friday Night Smackdown. Still no Saturday programming, and Sunday should just be called the UPN night, since the line-up will be (staring at 6 p.m.) Everybody Hates Chris, All of Us, Girlfriends, Girlfriends spin-off The Game, and an encore of that week's Top Model.
Only one midseason standy has been picked up, which is Hidden Years. Zap2It aptly describes this with "think The O.C., only in Palm Springs." I say aptly since it'll be staring several regular O.C. guest stars (namely Oliver and Zach). The basic plot is the main character (a teen coping with his daddy's death) starts discovering his neighbors secrets. Sounds kinda interesting, but it could be hit or miss. We'll just have to see if it even makes it to the air.
So to recap, in total, one new drama, one new comedy, one midseason pinch hitter, all for one new-ish network.
So, as usual, for more proper coverage, visit Zap2It. And of course visit here again soon, possibly tomorrow for updated linkage to more proper coverage.
And tomorrow, I'll give my upfronts wrapup. Stay tuned ...
