my secret betty & veronica sketchbook

bettyverni've been doing some cleaning out here and there during the past several days (physically and mentally).

one of the boxes i cleaned out today was of empty jewelcases that used to belong to cds that were stolen out of my car nearly six years ago. i'm pretty sure i held onto these with the hope that one day i'd burn copies from friends, but that's not happened.

instead, i emptied them of their artwork because i've decided to make mixed cds for people for x-mas. (and yes, i know how very perks of being a wallflower that sounds, but it's the next logical step since i've already been making playlists of songs that either remind me of certain people or that i think certain people would enjoy.) this week i'll start coming up with ideas for the artwork for each of these impending gifts.

the other two boxes i've gotten into have just caused a mess. they contained:
  • old (and by old, i mean from the mid- to late '90s) of wizard and details
  • old school pictures (e.g., my second grade class picture [filled with people i haven't spoken to since elementary] and a couple of my school pics from high school [and after looking at my hair in my sophomore photo, it's no wonder my friend stacey nicknamed me poochie, as in the toy, not the simpsons character])
  • assorted pictures from high school and post-high school of people i no longer call friend, some i've lost touch with, and my lesbian ex-girlfriend
  • assorted crap like broken phones, string, a couple of games for a nintendo system i do not own (but used to), more string, binder rings, broken sunglasses, music from my marching band days (for flute, clarinet, and percussion), possibly the first gay porn catalog i sent away for when i was 17, broken handcuffs, buttons, a couple of my high school report cards, and my switchblade from my cutting days
  • a couple of unbagged comics that i've been searching for on and off for several years now
  • some old k chronicles strips from when i worked for the ut-brownsville school paper
yeah. most of that went straight into the trash.

now i just finished watching guerrilla: the taking of patty hearst. it was pretty good. now i'm contemplating making a copy of it for velouria, but that would've probably made more sense around halloween time since that was her costume.

and now i will finish watching cremaster 3, which isn't as mind-numbing as i remember it being, but then again i haven't gotten to the part where matthew barney's anus protrudes and expels a liquid that solidifies into a porcelain white phallic object. i'll let you know how that turns out. oy.
